I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), and are presented links to help you find them, so that you can try them out for yourself. Cheers!
- 2017 Anaba Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast): Managing to be deep without at all bragging about it. $48 A-
- 2017 Anaba J McK Estate Vineyard Chardonnay (Carneros): Young, figgy, toasty, and delicious. Too delicious. Like, dangerously delicious. $46 A-
- 2019 Anaba Rosé of Grenache (Sonoma County): By not trying to be Provence, it becomes it’s own fruity, dynamic, unique self. $30 A-
- 2016 Chalk Hill Estate Red Proprietary Blend (Chalk Hill): Well, now, that’s just sexy AF. $70 A-
- 2015 McIntyre Vineyards Kimberly Vineyards Merlot (Arroyo Seco): Balanced, finely-tuned, and… sh*t, go order a case of it. $25 A-
- 2013 Anemoi Wines Lips (Grand Valley): A little bit woody, and more than a little bit gamey. $35 B+
- 2014 Domaine Eric de Suremain Chateau de Monthelie ‘Monthelie’ (Cote de Beaune): Graceful, but occasionally a bit too light on its feet. $52 B+
- NV Juvé y Camps Reserva de la Familia Gran Reserva Brut Nature Cava (Catalonia): So, basically, pretty much everyone is gonna like this. $20 B+
- 2019 CVNE ‘Monopole’ Blanco (Rioja): Mineral, lemony, lovely, and sooooo gentle on the bank account. $13 B+
- NV Emilio Hidalgo Gobernador Oloroso Seco Sherry (Andalucia): Imagine sucking on walnut shells, but in a really good way. $27 B+
